Residential Energy Efficiency
SAFE is encouraging Salem residents to think green and take action. Our "1-2-3 and more residential energy" efficiency pledge is any easy way for you and your family to participate in efforts to curb global climate change and live more sustainably.
We're asking each Salem household to:
- Turn down your thermostat by 1 degree.
- Drive 2 miles per hour slower on the highway.
- Replace three regular lightbulbs with complact flourescents.
And if you can do more, sign up to buy green electricity through Mass Energy Consumer's Alliance's Green Start program, which is available through National Grid. By spending just a small amount more per month (which is tax deductible), you can send more renewable energy to the electric grid and help Massachusetts lead the way to a green energy future. The extra dollars are also matched by grants to the City of Salem for green energy projects.
